This week I got back to lessons. I didn’t had a lesson since middle April so I was really looking forward to it!
After a chat with my instructor moaning about the worries and aims of my equestrian progression… I was presented with a surprisingly pleasant lunging lesson focusing only on the seat and overall body posture!
I almost had forgot how great lunging is, and now I even more believe that it can be a very good complement of the riding lessons in order to correct bad habits, and it can be also be very liberating because we can really focus in our posture without worrying with the other riding issues.
We worked a lot in the transitions in between gaits, and seating to the trot… that is becoming one of my biggest problems nowadays (… maybe I’m getting old…)
I was made clear the important role of the lower back in all the keeping up with the horse’s movement issue… and that I have to keep in mind all the time... even when I’m not riding… because it makes really all the difference!
The lesson on the next day went very well, one of the better lessons I ever had I may say, even if it wasn’t all made of success! But, thanks to my instructor great determination… I managed to get to the end of the lesson overcoming most of the difficulties I found in some exercises, especially both canter and half pass to the right lead!
This is still pretty much work in progress, but I really have to establish this in a consistent way before I can progress to anything more so is just a matter of time and hard work… and I feel I’m in the right way!
