… but it doesn’t!
Today I rode with my brand new made to custom black leather Dressage boots… My first “real” riding boots ever!
I’ve wanted ones for a long time and this year I finally gave up to my riding vanity and ordered them… no more excuses for not riding great… I have 2 arms and 2 legs, the horse, the instructor and the looks … I JUST HAVE TO CONVINCE MYSELF I CAN MAKE IT!... otherwise I’d better put the new boots on a frame on the living room wall!
And today we also had a gorgeous sunny day to go with the new boots… so another reason to have a good lesson… and it was a good and pleasant one!
The lessons progressed with the usual set of exercises from warm up to Leg yield, to Shoulder in, to Half pass…
Half pass is still much a work-in-progress… but today I was happy to get a first approach to Half pass to the right, which is this horse hardest side. To the left it wasn’t fantastic, but also not bad, so the instructor added a little extra difficulty, asking for some strides at Half Pass them some strides in front straightening the horse and back to Half pass.
I really enjoy the introduction of variations in the regular exercises… and really hope that I get this kind of challenge more often, as signal my riding is getting better!
Transitions from rising to sitting trot are also not good at this time. I’m getting very unbalanced and is not pleasant at all. I’ll try to come over this with some stretching exercises as soon I can return to my regular fitness program.
The canter work was pretty decent to the left… and really bad to the right… but it will get better!

Maybe you are just too hard on yourself? Of course we need to see the picture of the boots to be sure they are correct for you:)
